Disneyland Brings 70 Years of Joy to Anaheim Community
Disneyland Resort celebrated its 70th anniversary in Anaheim with a special community event called 'The Happiest Day in Anaheim'. The celebration, held on August 27, aimed to bring happiness and Disney magic to local residents of all ages.
The festivities started well before the main event. Throughout the month of August, Disney VoluntEARS made surprise visits to community centers and events across Anaheim, handing out special treats and surprises to over 2,000 residents. These smaller events helped build excitement for the bigger celebrations.
On August 27, several events took place throughout the city. At the Ponderosa Family Resource Center, more than 125 senior citizens enjoyed a morning of Disney-inspired activities, including yoga, bingo, and crafts. The event was designed to bring joy to Anaheim's senior community, with Disney providing supplies for four libraries and two additional senior communities to host their own celebrations.
In addition to the senior event, Disneyland Resort also hosted a field day at Danbrook Elementary School, where over 400 students participated in Disney-themed activities. Each student received a swag bag containing Mickey ears and other surprises. The school's teachers and staff were also recognized with complimentary tickets to visit the theme parks.
The largest event of the day was 'Main Street on Your Street' at Center Greens Park, which brought the atmosphere of Disneyland's iconic Main Street, U.S.A. directly into the Anaheim community. Over 3,000 residents attended, enjoying performances, food, and activities inspired by the theme park. Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and his friends, made appearances throughout the day.
