Disneyland Reimagines Tomorrowland to Match Walt Disney's Original Vision
Disneyland has announced plans to reimagine its Tomorrowland area using Walt Disney's original vision for the land. The project will be the third major overhaul of Tomorrowland in its 71-year history, with the first update taking place in 1967 and a second makeover in 1998.
The new design will feature new attractions and open spaces that embody attention to detail, immersive storytelling, and emotional experiences. According to Emo O'Brien, Walt Disney Imagineering's Disneyland Resort executive creative producer, the team has been guided by Walt Disney's original vision for Tomorrowland as their 'guidepost and our North Star.'
The project will begin with an update of Autopia, which will feature fully electric vehicles, and may include a refreshed Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Space Mountain facelift. The Carousel of Progress is also being considered for return.
Disneyland's Land of Tomorrow has plenty of empty spaces in need of some Imagineering magic with the Tomorrowland Theater, Star Wars Launch Bay, and PeopleMover track all sitting underused. The project aims to respect the heritage and legacy of Tomorrowland while continuing to evolve the land for new generations.
