Disney's Animal Kingdom Trails Remain Closed Amid Ongoing Construction
Disney's Animal Kingdom is dealing with a major blind spot, large portions of the Discovery Island Trails surrounding the Tree of Life are blocked off due to construction, with no official reopening date in sight. The root cause of this issue lies within the transformation of the Tree of Life into Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, a new 3D attraction that debuted on November 7, 2025.
To accommodate equipment transport and structural updates for the show, construction walls were erected along the Discovery Island Trails. However, even after the attraction's opening, significant portions of the trails remain sectioned off behind these barriers.
The indefinite closure creates practical challenges for guests visiting the park, including foot traffic congestion, inaccessible animal viewing areas, and disrupted photography opportunities. The lack of an official reopening timeline has sparked frustration among visitors and theme park analysts alike.
