Disney's Back-to-School Drive Hits 1 Million Mark

Walt Disney World's annual Back-to-School Supply Drive has collected over 155,000 school supplies this summer. The drive supports A Gift For Teaching, a nonprofit that provides local teachers and students with free access to necessary supplies.

This year's collection brings the total number of donated school supplies to more than 1 million in the last decade. The items will stock classrooms and support students and teachers in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, and Polk counties.

Disney VoluntEARS celebrated the drive with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, showing some of the donated items. According to Jane Thompson, President of A Gift For Teaching, these supplies represent a student walking into school prepared to learn and a teacher feeling supported by their community.
