Disney's Box Office Bonanza: Toy Story 5 Leads Domestic Numbers Ahead of Earnings Call
Walt Disney's upcoming earnings call is set to shed light on its Q3 entertainment results, which could be influenced by recent theatrical releases. The company's 'Toy Story 5' has led the domestic box office with a $463.4 million gross across 4,425 theaters.
'The Devil Wears Prada 2' ranks eighth with $220.6 million across 4,200 theaters, while 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' brought in $177.7 million across 4,300 theaters. These films debuted during May and June and will be compared to last year's 'Lilo & Stitch', which generated $423.8 million domestically.
Investors are also interested in the performance of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', which has already broken box office records with $16.5 million in advance ticket sales within its first day of availability. Prediction markets expect Disney to discuss its upcoming slate, including 'Avengers: Doomsday', and highlight the strength of its franchise lineup.
Disney's Entertainment segment generated $11.72 billion in revenue during Q2, a 10% increase from last year. The company is expected to report third-quarter revenue of $25.40 billion, exceeding last year's figure of $23.65 billion.
