Disney's Cost Cuts Claim Another Victim: Marvel Cancels Its 5th Major MCU Movie
Marvel Studios has canceled its 5th major MCU movie amid Disney cutbacks. The Blade film, starring Mahershala Ali as the titular character, was announced in 2019 but never got off the ground due to script issues and director changes.
This marks the 5th time in Marvel Studios history that a feature film developed and then announced by the studio was subsequently canceled. Only two other movies have been shelved in recent years: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which was replaced by Avengers: Doomsday, and Armor Wars, whose status is unclear.
Marvel has attributed the cancellation to Disney's cutbacks due to economic constraints. The company has been reducing its output of MCU movies and TV shows, with only a few projects still in development.
