Disney's Ferry Dock Expansion Hits New Milestone at Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom ferry dock expansion project at Walt Disney World continues to make progress. As of our latest visit, multiple timber pillars have been installed along a concrete portion of the developing dock. These wooden poles were cut and placed on site earlier this month.
Wooden joists connect the new wood pillars to the existing pathway, which indicates that the expansion is nearing completion. A large barge that previously hosted a crawler excavator is now absent from the site.
The project follows the installation of second-level ferryboat ramps in 2021, which allowed guests to unload from both decks more quickly. Disney filed a permit for the dock project in February, and the state's water management district approved it in March.
