Disney's Hollywood Studios Adds More Character Statues Ahead of Magic of Disney Animation Opening

Disney's Hollywood Studios has been quietly adding character statues to its Walt Disney Studios Lot area. Since May, Imagineering has been placing them in hidden spots for guests to discover, without any fanfare.

The latest additions include Bolt, two Dalmatian puppies from 101 Dalmatians, and Meeko from Pocahontas. They join a cast of over a dozen characters already on display, including Pua and Thumper, Jiminy Cricket, Lucifer, Cinderella's bluebirds, Diablo, Mochi, Sir Hiss, Fru Fru, Jaq, Gus, Timothy Mouse, Zazu, Ray, Abu, and more.

The statues are part of the 'Open House' concept behind The Magic of Disney Animation, which is set to open on September 14. According to this premise, Walt Disney Animation Studios characters have taken over the space while their animators have stepped away. This is why the statues are perched on signs, railings, and roof ledges rather than displayed on pedestals.
