Disney's Hollywood Studios Unveils Major Transformation with Magic of Disney Animation

Disney's Hollywood Studios is undergoing another major transformation, one that promises to bring a fresh and nostalgic take on animation to the park. After years of closures, renovations, and speculation about its future, Disney has finally announced the opening date for 'The Magic of Disney Animation', a new destination located in Animation Courtyard.

Set to open on September 14, 2026, this immersive experience will transport guests into an animation studio lot inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios campus in Burbank, California. The area's design draws inspiration from the 2023 short film 'Once Upon a Studio', which featured beloved characters interacting within the real-life animation studio.

The centerpiece of this transformation is the reimagined building itself, designed to mirror the architectural features of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in California. Guests will be able to explore various experiences centered around Disney animation, including drawing activities, character interactions, an indoor playground called 'Drawn to Wonderland', and a theater experience showcasing over 100 years of Disney animation.

The addition of Olaf Draws is particularly unique, as it allows guests to learn how to sketch Disney characters while being guided by Audio-Animatronics Olaf at an animator's desk. This interactive experience features recorded instruction from Disney Animation artists, including Mickey Mouse and other beloved characters.
