Disney's New Coco Ride Takes Guests on Return Journey to the Land of the Dead
The highly anticipated Coco ride is making its way to Disneyland's Disney California Adventure. During D23, the official convention of The Walt Disney Company, a sneak peek was given at the press preview. The ride will be located in a new building currently under construction between Incredicoaster and Paradise Garden Grill.
The Coco ride will take guests on a journey through the Land of the Dead, inspired by the Pixar hit movie. According to concept art revealed during D23, the ride will pick up after the events of the film and tell a new story. This means Miguel's visit to the Land of the Dead will be a return voyage.
Ernesto de la Cruz's statue has been replaced with a tribute to Héctor Rivera, which will greet guests outside of the attraction. The ride is expected to feature state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics characters, similar to those found in classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion.
The Coco ride construction is taking place in what was formerly a backstage area. Disney has not announced an opening date or year for the ride yet.
