Disney's New Trash Cans Get a Makeover for EPCOT's Mission: SPACE

The Walt Disney World resort has continued its replacement of trash cans across its various parks and areas. The latest location to receive new trash cans is near Mission: SPACE at EPCOT, with five sets installed in total.

Unlike previous themed versions that were introduced earlier this year, these new trash cans are plain gray with no logos or color treatment. However, the reason for this design choice might not be as obvious as it seems.

According to Disney Fanatic, Mission: SPACE is a land designed to resemble a space agency campus, and the muted grays, metallics, and cool tones used in its architecture are meant to reflect that theme. The plain gray trash cans blend seamlessly into this environment, making them seem like a deliberate design choice rather than an oversight.

The new solar-powered trash cans have been rolling out across the resort since June, with some areas receiving more themed versions while others received plain ones. It's worth noting that Disney has confirmed plans to replace trash cans in Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Disney Springs, and ESPN Wide World of Sports as well.
