Disney's New Villains Land Gets Official Name and Mysterious Storyline
The highly anticipated Villains Land at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is taking shape. The land, previously known as Villains Land, will now officially be called... still Villains Land.
This naming convention follows the standard nomenclature of other areas in the Magic Kingdom, the most-visited theme park in the world and a crown jewel of the sprawling Walt Disney World resort outside Orlando, Florida. The team at Walt Disney Imagineering drew inspiration from classic animated movies and the idea that characters often stray away from safe paths into treacherous terrain.
The storyline for Villains Land revolves around a mysterious stranger who made an evil wish at a broken wishing well, infusing poisoned magic into the land. This untapped power attracts Disney's iconic villains, who converge on the area to conjure their own nightmares. The team teased bespoke costumes for the characters, promising an elegant aesthetic.
The first attraction will be a rollercoaster themed around Maleficent from 'Sleeping Beauty,' where riders will be chased through a briar patch and around her mountaintop fortress. A surprise element has been hinted at but remains under wraps. The second attraction is set inside the Evil Queen's Palace from 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' and features an E-ticket dark ride. Riders will encounter the Magic Mirror, which will transport them to the 'mirror realm,' where visions of various Disney Villains await.
