Disney's Patent Aims to Personalize Theme Park Experiences
Disney has filed a patent application for a system that can personalize theme park experiences based on individual guest preferences. The technology, described in the 'Personalized Notification of Attractions Including User Preferences or Aversions' patent, could recommend attractions, provide real-time warnings, and even adjust elements like sound, lighting, and motion within predetermined safety limits.
The system would use user input to identify specific characteristics they enjoy or want to avoid, such as dark scenes, confined spaces, or sharp turns. It would then compare these preferences with detailed information about each attraction and alert the guest when there is a match.
Disney envisions using this technology to create more inclusive experiences for guests with sensory needs, like those on the autism spectrum. The system could provide substitute content for compatible effects, such as visuals or audio, while warning the family about physical elements that cannot be changed.
