Disney's Top Storytellers Reveal the Secrets Behind Their Magic
Disney's 'Worldbuilders' documentary is a new Disney+ feature that showcases the creative minds behind the company's films and theme parks. The film profiles top storytellers like Kevin Feige, Jennifer Lee, and Jon Favreau, who share their childhood love for Disney and how it inspired them to create their own success stories.
Feige, Marvel Studios' chief, was a shy kid who loved Space Mountain and 'Star Wars.' Lee, the writer and director of 'Frozen,' was a wild child who adored Cinderella and fairytales. These profiles in the documentary include childhood photos, home videos, and personal anecdotes about the storytellers.
Disney Legend Bob Iger said, 'More than anything else, every theme park attraction that exists exists because a great storyteller told a great story. It's that simple.' The film also gives glimpses of upcoming projects, including the Avengers Campus expansion at Disney California Adventure and a new park in Abu Dhabi.
The common denominator among the creative leaders interviewed is their emphasis on storytelling as the top priority. They believe quality, authenticity, and detail are essential for creating beloved attractions. As Feige said, 'The bar is a timeless story that will be loved worldwide forever? That's a tricky thing to be asked to attempt to do, but how wonderful that that's the hope.'
