Disney's Tower of Terror Wraps in Scaffolding Ahead of Holiday Season
The iconic Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios has undergone significant changes. The Twilight Zone-themed attraction, which opened in July 1994, now features scaffolding covering nearly its entire facade. The exterior refurbishment project began in May and has been progressing rapidly since then.
The scaffolding reaches from the lower portions of the building to its highest sections, making it difficult to see the faded pink exterior, exposed brickwork, and deliberately damaged details that make the Hollywood Tower Hotel one of the park's most recognizable sights. The project is primarily focused on repainting and refreshing the building's heavily themed exterior rather than making major structural changes.
Tower of Terror remains open despite the extensive work being done outside. Disney has left gaps around the attraction's elevator windows, allowing riders to experience the ride normally without scaffolding blocking their view from inside. The refurbishment project has not been completed and no official completion date has been announced by Disney.
