Disney's 'Toy Story 5' and US Theme Parks Drive Strong Q3 Results
The Walt Disney Company reported a strong third quarter, driven by a $1 billion box office haul from 'Toy Story 5' and solid performance at its US theme parks. The Experiences division, which includes Disney's six global theme parks, saw operating income climb 20% to $3.02 billion and revenue reach $9.97 billion. The company also announced a deal with TikTok to bring Disney-focused fan-created content from the platform to the Disney+ app.
Disney's theme park division, which had previously cautioned about modest growth due to declining international tourism, saw attendance at US parks increase by 3% from last year. The boost was attributed to higher attendance from domestic tourists and annual passholders, as well as summer promotions and new experiences offered at the parks.
Additionally, Disney's Consumer Products revenue experienced its strongest quarter of year-over-year growth in 20 quarters, driven by 'Toy Story' merchandise sales and increased viewings of other Toy Story films on Disney+. The company also noted strong performance from 'The Devil Wears Prada 2', particularly overseas.
