Disney's Toy Story 5 Hits Digital Platforms Ahead of Expected Disney+ Release
The fifth installment of Pixar's beloved animated franchise, Toy Story 5, has hit digital platforms for purchase and rental. The film follows Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) as he takes on a new role in Bonnie's room, overseeing Jessie (Joan Cusack) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). However, when Bonnie gets a shiny new toy with a screen, the gang is left wondering about their own relevance.
Toy Story 5 has earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and its digital release will likely bring in even more revenue for Disney. The film's themes of technology-induced anxiety and the importance of traditional toys may appeal to both children and adults.
The movie is currently available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and other platforms, with prices varying between $24.99 (rental) and $29.99 (purchase). A DVD and 4K Blu-ray release will follow on September 22, featuring deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes.
While Disney+ has not officially announced a release date for Toy Story 5, it's likely to arrive around late September 2026. The streaming service offers various subscription options, including ad-supported plans starting at $11.99/month.
