Disney's Toy Story Franchise Fuels Record Revenue and Streaming Growth
Disney's 'Toy Story' franchise has extended its box office success into other areas of the company, including streaming and merchandise sales. The company reported revenue of $25.2 billion in the June quarter, up 7% from last year, but slightly below Wall Street forecasts.
The success of 'Toy Story 5' was cited as a key factor in the growth of Disney's Entertainment segment, which saw revenue rise 6% to $11.3 billion. The film also contributed to increased engagement on the Disney+ streaming service and higher attendance at theme parks, with revenues up 10% to nearly $10 billion.
Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro highlighted his strategy of investing in franchises like Toy Story to reach audiences outside the box office. He emphasized the importance of reaching a wider audience through streaming services and other channels.
