Disney's Toy Story Franchise Value Surges to $16 Billion
Disney's Pixar franchise has seen significant growth in value following the box office success of 'Toy Story 5', which has raked in over $1 billion. According to a commissioned study by consultancy firm Steward Redqueen, Disney estimates the income value of the franchise at $16 billion.
The film's performance is a key driver behind Disney's consumer products revenue increase of 7% year-over-year, with merchandise related to the franchise being a major contributor. The previous 'Toy Story' films have also seen significant streaming time on Disney+, passing 2 billion hours in combined viewing time this quarter.
The global economic impact of the 'Toy Story' franchise is estimated to be around $50 billion, according to Steward Redqueen's study. This growth is reflected in Disney's entertainment segment revenue, which rose 5.6% year-over-year to $11.3 billion, thanks in part to the success of 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'.
