DLSS 5 Mod Doubles Performance with Second Graphics Card
Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology has been taking a toll on frame rates when run on a single graphics card, but a modder has found a way to split the workload between two GPUs. The ReShade add-on, dubbed Neural Coprocessor, is available for free on GitHub and can improve frame rates by up to 127.5%.
To use this mod, you'll need two Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, as well as a second monitor connected to each GPU. The reason for the second monitor is that running the neural rendering card headless costs 33% throughput and doubles latency.
Developer Marcelo Guibout has demonstrated the results of Neural Coprocessor in Cyberpunk 2077 and The Blood of Dawnwalker, using two GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics cards. According to Guibot, running DLSS 5 on another card improved frame rates by up to 127.5%.
While the performance gains are smaller at higher base pixel counts, this mod could be handy for anyone lucky enough to have two GeForce graphics cards lying around. However, it's worth noting that Neural Coprocessor doesn't have access to motion vectors, depth, or masks like a native DLSS 5 integration.
