A modder has discovered a way to run Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology on a secondary graphics card, potentially bringing back multi-GPU gaming. The modder, known as 'maohgad-web', created a ReShade add-on that allows gamers to offload DLSS 5 from their primary GPU, resulting in significant performance boosts.

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is a post-process AI technology that doesn't require running on the same graphics card as the game. Benchmarks show that running DLSS 5 on a secondary GPU can return framerates to pre-DLSS 5 levels or close to it, with a massive 127% increase in performance in one test.

Nvidia has increased DLSS 5's performance by 5x since its reveal, but it remains a performance hog. Nvidia plans to further optimize DLSS 5 over the coming months, which may make it less necessary for gamers to use a secondary GPU.
