DLSS 5 Mods Break Nvidia's Controls, Running on Unconfirmed Hardware
DLSS 5 upscaling has been successfully demonstrated on a PC equipped with an RTX 4070 Super, running inside the PCSX2 emulator on a nearly two-decade-old PlayStation 2 game, Medal of Honor: European Assault.
The demo was not created by Nvidia or any official team but rather by enthusiasts who have been refining the modding stack for months. The tooling used to enable DLSS 5-style upscaling is referred to as 'DLSS 5 Swapper' and has been paired with other components such as ReShade and DLSS5-Feeder.
The modding community has successfully bypassed Nvidia's checks that limit DLSS distribution, allowing the technology to run on GPUs that have not been officially confirmed to support it. This includes RTX 2000, RTX 3000, and RTX 4000 series cards, which are outside of Nvidia's typical DLSS generational history.
