DLSS 5 Runs on Second GPU with Stunning Results
Nvidia's DLSS 5 Neural Rendering technology has been making waves in the PC gaming world, and one developer has taken it to the next level by running it on a second GPU. Marcelo Guibout shared a demonstration of this technique online, which involves using a ReShade add-on called MGPU Bridge to offload neural rendering from the primary GPU.
The process works by rendering the game on one card and then applying neural post-processing on the other. This not only boosts performance but also reduces temperature on the rendering card, with Guibout's setup running 21 degrees cooler without the neural load. The demonstration used a Ryzen 7 7800X3D system with two Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti GPUs, and showed impressive results in various DLSS modes.
The key takeaway from this experiment is that moving neural post-processing to a second GPU can greatly improve performance, with some tests showing up to a 127% increase in frames per second. While Guibout notes that this isn't a return to Nvidia's SLI technology and lacks native integration, it does offer an interesting alternative for gamers with dual-GPU setups.
