Dog Supplements Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination
A dog supplement manufacturer has issued a recall for two of its products due to potential contamination with salmonella. Vet Plus, Inc. is recalling its Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs and Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, which were sold nationwide online on Amazon and Chewy.
The company was notified by its manufacturer that an ingredient in the supplements could be contaminated with salmonella. The recalled products come in 180-gram containers with lot numbers 26118 and 26159, as well as UPC codes 850064800111 and 850055111684.
Pet owners should keep an eye on their dogs for signs of a salmonella infection, which include diarrhea, fever, vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain. Dogs can also be carriers of salmonella without showing any symptoms and can infect other pets or humans. Pet owners are advised to monitor themselves for signs of salmonella infection as well.
The FDA recommends stopping use of the recalled supplements immediately and throwing them away, making sure the lid is tightly sealed before doing so.
