Donald Hosts European Ryder Cup Gathering at Adare Manor
European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is hosting a 16-player gathering at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland. The event will take place between the Amgen Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship, with the players involved heading straight to Wentworth after the gathering.
The trip aims to familiarize European players with the course, as only about half of the 16 players have played Adare Manor before. Donald is also using this opportunity to plan for next year's centenary edition of the Ryder Cup, which will be held at the same venue.
Donald has invited his three vice captains, Edoardo and Francesco Molinari, and Irishman Padraig Harrington, to join him at Adare Manor. The final couple of player spots are set to be filled by Donald this week, with performances in the Husqvarna British Masters being taken into account.
This event is seen as another example of Donald's organized approach to team management and his determination to make history as a three-time Ryder Cup-winning captain.
