Dorset Charity Raises Nearly £7,000 with Plane Pull Challenge
A charity in Dorset has raised nearly £7,000 by participating in the annual Plane Pull challenge. The event involved teams competing to pull a Boeing 737 aircraft 50 meters across the ground.
The Plane Pull is an annual fundraiser held at Hurn Airport in Bournemouth, where teams of 20 participants try to move the massive plane as quickly as possible. This year's charity beneficiaries were Home-Start Wessex, which supports families in crisis across Dorset, Hampshire, and Wiltshire.
The charity fielded three teams: The Runway Ruckers, who came third; The Home-Start Heroes; and The Winton Way. Darren Lewis, community fundraising officer at Home-Start Wessex, praised the effort of all participants, saying 'it was fantastic' to see them work together for a good cause.
The funds raised will support the charity's efforts to provide practical and emotional support to parents with young children across the region. Last year, the charity helped 526 families, reaching over 1,700 individuals in total.
