Dorset Volunteers Pull Boeing 737 to Raise £6,900 for Local Families

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, volunteers across Dorset came together to pull a Boeing 737 aircraft as part of the 'Dorset Plane Pull' charity event. The event, which took place over the August bank holiday, saw three teams representing Home-Start Wessex compete against each other to raise vital funds for families in need.

The 35,000kg aircraft was pulled 50 metres by each team of 20 volunteers, with the Runway Ruckers team impressively securing third place. The event raised a total of £6,900 for Home-Start Wessex's work with local families.

According to Darren Lewis, Community Fundraising & Events Officer at Home-Start Wessex, 'What I loved most was seeing the friendly competitiveness between the gym teams and the rugby club come together for something much bigger than winning.' He continued, 'Everyone pulled together to support one great cause, helping local families in crisis across Dorset.'

Home-Start Wessex provides essential support to parents with at least one child under 5 who are experiencing difficulties. The charity offers friendship, practical help, and emotional advice through specialist groups and one-to-one home visits.
