Dow-30 Pulls Back Amid Post-Earnings Declines, Boeing Rises on 737 MAX Approval
The stock market saw significant movements this week, particularly in the Dow-30. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI.US) set a new closing high on Monday, but pulled back from recent record highs on Thursday after post-earnings declines for Western Digital and other Big Techs soured investor sentiment.
The Dow-30 fell 464.02 points (0.9%) to a 53,885.10 close on Thursday, while the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 rose as well. The tech sector's recent sell-off saw Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon rallying on U.S.-Iran calm.
Boeing (BA) also made headlines, with the Pentagon pressuring defense contractors to ramp up weapons production. BA stock rose 8% this week, with Boeing finishing at $233.49, up 8.03%. The FAA approved the 737 MAX 7 after years of delays, allowing deliveries to begin and moving attention toward the MAX 10 pipeline.
