Dow Jones Index Climbs Modestly Amid Sector Rotation
The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened the trading week on a modestly positive note, climbing 76 points to close 0.14 percent higher on Monday.
This small move by Wall Street standards is significant because it offers a snapshot of which blue-chip names are pulling the benchmark up and which ones are dragging it down.
The top performer among Dow components was Visa, gaining 2.06 percent, followed closely by UnitedHealth at 1.97 percent and Walt Disney at 1.71 percent.
Caterpillar posted the steepest decline at -2.13 percent, with Boeing (-1.55 percent) and Merck (-1.53 percent) also weighing on the index.
