Dow Jones Rises as Rate Hike Odds Ease Amid Global Tensions
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) rose by 0.41% on Wednesday as rate hike odds cooled down ahead of the Federal Reserve's next interest rate decision on September 16.
The CME FedWatch tool now shows a 64% likelihood of a 25-basis-point hike, down from 67.2% on Tuesday and 36.6% a week ago.
Long-term Treasury yields rebounded from their morning losses to slightly higher levels, with the 10-year yield up 0.6 bps at 4.802% and the 30-year yield also up 0.6 bps at 5.273%.
Nvidia (NVDA) led the Dow Jones stocks, rising after Dell's strong quarterly report. However, software stocks Microsoft (MSFT), Salesforce (CRM), and Cisco (CSCO) declined.
