Dow Plummets Over 250 Points Amid Iran Concerns
The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted by over 250 points on Monday amid growing concerns in the Middle East, while the CNN Money Fear and Greed Index remained stuck in the 'Greed' zone.
The index showed another decline in overall market sentiment, but its reading of 59.9 still indicates a greedy market. The Dow Jones fell 273 points to close at 53,459.78 on Monday, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite dropped by 0.52% and 0.32%, respectively.
In contrast, energy stocks bucked the overall trend and closed higher. The New York Fed's Empire State Manufacturing Index surged to 20.6 in August, topping market estimates of 11. The NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index also rose to 35 in August from 34 in the previous month.
In earnings news, shares of INVO Fertility Inc. (NASDAQ:IVF) jumped over 60% on Monday after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter EPS results. Investors are now awaiting earnings reports from Home Depot Inc., Amer Sports Inc., and Toll Brothers Inc today.
