Dow Rises as Markets Await Fed Clues
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.20% to 53,674.78 as of 1500 BST, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.09% to 7,737.63 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.02% to 26,536.66.
Nvidia's strong revenue growth and guidance for future earnings led to a gain in the previous session, and Marvell Technology also posted impressive results after the close, with second-quarter revenues jumping 37% year-on-year to $2.7bn and adjusted earnings rising 40% to $0.94 per share.
However, the market is still waiting for Federal Reserve chairman Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole, which could provide clues on future US monetary policy. Markets currently assign around a 64% chance that the central bank keeps rates unchanged next month.
