Dow Tumbles as Amazon Leads Declines in US Stock Market
The US stock market closed lower on Monday, led by declines in Amazon and Honeywell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell -0.70% to 53,191.33, with Amazon down -2.50%, Honeywell down -1.79%, and Sherwin Williams down -1.73%. The S&P 500 also closed lower, down -0.33% at 7,686.15.
The Nasdaq Composite, however, managed to eke out a small gain of +0.08%, closing at 26,370.89. Among the notable winners were Roblox, up +7.16%, CrowdStrike, up +5.77%, and Tesla, up +5.51%.
The losses on the Dow were led by Amazon's decline, followed closely by Honeywell and Sherwin Williams. The broader US stock indices are showing a mixed picture, with the S&P 500 and Dow closing lower, while the Nasdaq Composite managed to stay in positive territory.
