Dreamforce Brings Tech Titans to SF Amid AI Concerns
San Francisco's tourism industry is experiencing its highest visitation levels since 2019 as Dreamforce, Salesforce's annual three-day conference, kicks off at Moscone Center on Tuesday. More than 43,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will feature prominent speakers from the AI industry, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
The conference comes amid growing concerns about the risks of AI development, with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently calling for a slower pace due to fears that increasingly powerful AI could threaten humanity. Despite these concerns, attendees were largely optimistic about the technology's potential, with one attendee from Switzerland stating, 'There are dangers, but there are a lot of opportunities as well. It's up to us to make it right.'
Salesforce is using Dreamforce to showcase its new products and partnerships, including its deal with Anthropic called 'Claudeforce,' which integrates Anthropic's Claude chatbot with Salesforce's customer relationship management products.
