Dreamforce's Dreamstore Sets New Bar for Retail Experiences
The Dreamstore at Dreamforce was a retail experience like no other. In just two months, it was set up to accommodate over 40,000 attendees with more than 100 unique products and 2,100 SKUs. The store was powered by Salesforce Point of Sale (POS) and featured mobile checkout systems for line management and a superior customer experience.
The team behind the Dreamstore used an API-first system and a no-code CMS to set it up quickly. This allowed the merchandising and operations teams to configure the store without needing custom development, which would have taken time and resources. The native integration between Salesforce POS and Order Management System (OMS) also streamlined the process, eliminating the need for custom middleware.
The Dreamstore was equipped with mobile point-of-sale systems that allowed associates to check out customers wherever they were standing. This flexible checkout capacity helped handle unexpected surges in foot traffic during events like keynote speeches or gift voucher giveaways. Real-time inventory tracking also ensured that sales updates occurred immediately, without the need for overnight batch updates.
The payment processing experience was powered by Adyen, allowing customers to pay using their preferred method, credit card, tap-to-pay, WeChat Pay, Alipay, or even a gift voucher. This flexibility made it possible for retailers to adapt to changing customer preferences without needing custom checkout flows.
