DroneShield's Share Price Dips Amid Institutional Support and Profit Warning
DroneShield is facing a challenging market environment as its share price continues to decline despite institutional support from major financial institutions. The Australian counter-drone specialist's stock has shed 6.1% since unveiling RfRecon, a portable radio-frequency intelligence system aimed at the drone-defense market, in early August. This comes on the heels of a profit warning issued by DroneShield in late July, which slashed its full-year revenue guidance to A$250-270 million and led to a sharp divergence among analysts covering the stock.
The institutional accumulation from Citigroup and JPMorgan, both of which increased their positions during a period of falling prices, raises questions about whether these filings represent a contrarian bet on stabilization or simply regulatory paperwork. Disclosure notices of this kind are mandatory filings, not endorsements, and the market has yet to signal which interpretation it favors.
The company's current turbulence is also exacerbated by an unusually high short interest of 15.7%, making DroneShield the most-shorted stock on the ASX at times. The stock closed Friday at €1.13, down 3.9% on the day and now trades roughly 12% below where it stood a month ago.
