Druckenmiller Ditches Micron for Alphabet Amid AI Boom
Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller sold nearly all of his shares in Micron Technology, a memory and storage solutions company that saw its stock nearly quadruple in value between March 31 and June 30.
The sale was not entirely due to profit-taking, as Druckenmiller's investment firm, Duquesne Family Office, has a history of selling stocks when their forward price-to-earnings ratios are low and the companies have exceptional pricing power.
However, it is possible that Micron's highly cyclical nature and its reliance on AI infrastructure build-out to sustain its trillion-dollar market cap may have factored into Druckenmiller's decision.
In contrast, Druckenmiller added significantly to his position in Alphabet, the parent company of Google, which has seen its AI sales skyrocket since integrating generative AI and large language model capabilities into its platform.
