Druckenmiller's AI Play: Why He Dumped Nvidia and Went All-In on This Gene-Testing Stock
Stanley Druckenmiller, a prominent trend follower and investor at Duquesne Family Office, has two megacap stocks worth watching in the artificial intelligence (AI) space. His top holding is not Amazon or Alphabet, but Natera, a genetic testing company.
Natera's revenue grew 38% year-over-year to $753 million last quarter, and Druckenmiller's Duquesne Family Office owns around 20% of the stock. The investment was made in Q3 2022 when the share price was between $35 and $50.
Natera has been a huge winner for Druckenmiller, with the stock trading at $328 today, closing in on about 10 times the initial cost basis. In contrast, his earlier bet on Nvidia, an AI chipmaker, was sold due to valuation concerns, but he later said it was a mistake not to let his winners run.
