Druckenmiller's AMD Bet: A Shift from Nvidia Amid AI Market Growth

Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller has been following AI stocks closely. In 2022, he heavily invested in Nvidia (NVDA), which became his biggest position for a year.

However, last year he sold all his Nvidia shares, citing the high valuation. But despite Nvidia's recent decline to a low of 17x forward earnings estimates earlier this year, Druckenmiller hasn't returned to the stock.

Instead, in the second quarter, Druckenmiller opened a new position in Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which has seen its stock soar over 100% this year. He bought 72,900 shares, giving AMD a 0.8% weight in his portfolio.

Druckenmiller's move is notable because he remains bullish on the AI market and is looking for growth potential outside of Nvidia. AMD's lower valuation compared to Nvidia could be attractive to investors who want to get in on the chip specialist during this phase of the AI story.
