DTCC Runs First Live Blockchain Trades with Major Institutions
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) marked a significant milestone in July 2026 by executing its first live production trades using tokenized securities on blockchain. The trades involved major financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Vanguard.
The assets traded included tokenized equities, exchange-traded funds like the SPDR S&P 500 and Invesco QQQ, and US Treasurys. DTCC used two enterprise blockchain networks to execute the trades: Hyperledger Besu and Canton Network.
What's notable is that these trades maintained legal ownership rights throughout. This addresses one of the persistent criticisms of tokenization, the murky legal standing of on-chain assets.
