Indian professionals waiting for US green cards under the EB-1 category face another potential setback. The US State Department has warned that the visa category may become unavailable before September 30 due to high demand.

The EB-1, or employment-based first-preference category, covers priority workers, including individuals with extraordinary ability and outstanding professors and researchers.

According to the State Department's September Visa Bulletin, the allocation for Indian applicants could be exhausted in the coming weeks if demand continues at its current pace.
