Echo Continues Listening Even Without Internet
A smart speaker like Amazon's Echo may seem inert when Wi-Fi is lost, but it's not entirely useless. In fact, the device still monitors for its wake word and can detect that trigger even without an internet connection.
This means that if you say 'Alexa' to your Echo while it has no Wi-Fi, the blue light will appear, indicating that the device has detected the wake word. However, when you follow up with a request, the Echo won't respond because it can't communicate with Amazon's servers.
It's essential to note that this behavior is different from disabling the microphone, which would prevent the Echo from detecting its wake word altogether.
