Edge Extensions Overload: Microsoft Struggles with AI-Driven Surge
Microsoft's Edge browser has been experiencing a surge in extension submissions due to advancements in AI development tools. The company is struggling to keep up with the pace, having to automate some validation checks to manage the workload.
According to Microsoft, the increase in submissions has led them to refresh Featured badges every 15 days, allowing high-quality extensions to earn recognition sooner and developers to receive faster feedback on their investments in quality.
The Edge Add-ons site has undergone a revamp with a better browsing experience and new categories, making it easier for users to find quality extensions. However, this uptick in extension submissions also means that some popular extensions, such as uBlock Origin, may no longer be compatible due to the browser's move from Manifest V2 to Manifest V3.
