Edge Supports Apple Accounts, Raising Questions About Microsoft's Mobile Strategy

Microsoft Edge may soon let users sign in with their Apple account, according to recent Canary builds of the browser. This feature would allow for easier syncing of bookmarks, history, and other content across devices.

The addition of Apple account support comes after Microsoft already added support for Google accounts. The company had initially planned to keep Edge exclusive to Microsoft accounts but has since shifted its strategy.

Microsoft's decision to add support for non-Microsoft accounts in Edge may be seen as an admission that the company lost the mobile ecosystem war. With no phone operating system of its own, Microsoft aimed to provide a premier experience for its services on Android and iOS, but some apps have been abandoned or lag behind.
