Eight Killed in B-52 Crash at Edwards Air Force Base
An Air Force B-52 bomber crashed shortly after takeoff at Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday, resulting in eight deaths. The incident occurred during a 'routine test mission,' according to the base. Colonel James Hayes, deputy commander for the 412th Test Wing, described it as a 'horrible tragedy.'
The crew consisted of uniformed military personnel, government civilians, and contractors, but their names will not be released until next-of-kin notification has been made. Two Boeing employees were among those killed in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, which is expected to take several months. The base has suspended all operations for Tuesday due to the incident.
