Emirates Names First Female Boeing 777 Captains
Emirates has made history by promoting two Emirati women to captaincy of its Boeing 777 fleet. Hanan Mohammed Jawad and Bakhita Al Mheiri are the first female captains in the airline's history, marking a significant milestone for both pilots.
Jawad joined Emirates as a cadet in 2008 through the National Cadet Pilot Programme, while Al Mheiri began her career with the same program in 2011. The two captains have accumulated extensive experience flying the Boeing 777 aircraft and have been responsible for leading crews, managing decisions, and maintaining safety standards.
Both Jawad and Al Mheiri emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adapting to changing conditions during flights. They also highlighted the significance of mentorship in aviation, crediting instructors and leaders who guided them throughout their careers.
