Emirates Recycles Plane Parts into Iconic Arsenal Stadium Sculpture
Emirates and Arsenal have unveiled a new sculpture made from upcycled aircraft components. The installation, called 'The Aircrafted Arsenal Crest', is a three-dimensional version of Arsenal's iconic crest, created using materials from Emirates' A380 and Boeing 777 fleet. Standing at 2.4 meters high, the sculpture was designed and built by Emirates Engineering specialists in Dubai over 34 days.
The team selected aircraft components based on their strength, shape, and potential for transformation, before cleaning, cutting, curving, machining, riveting, and assembling them to create the sculpture. At its heart is Arsenal's famous cannon, a symbol that has been featured in every version of the club's emblem since 1905.
The cannon was formed from an Airbus A380 main landing gear wheel hub, while the cannon barrel was made from a section of titanium bleed air duct from an A380. The shield surrounding the cannon was constructed from aircraft materials, including aluminium fuselage skin from a Boeing 777 and cargo tracks repurposed to form its outer edge and internal structure.
The sculpture reflects the partnership between Emirates and Arsenal, which has been extended through to 2033. The two organizations have been partners for 20 years, with Emirates holding naming rights to Arsenal's stadium since 2006.
