ESPN Content Associate Finds Acceptance as Transgender Person in Sports Industry
Mac joined ESPN's Next Program as a Content Associate and was initially hesitant to be open about their transgender identity in the sports industry. However, they found acceptance and support from colleagues who valued their perspective.
Mac is a member of the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists (NLGJA) and attended the group's 2026 National Convention in San Francisco from September 10-13. The convention provided an opportunity for Mac to share their experiences and feel celebrated among industry peers.
Mac produces content for games and events, pitching ideas and producing short video elements. They frequently cover college basketball and the WNBA, but recently worked at the Little League World Series.
As a Belonging Employee Resource Groups (BERG) leader within the Walt Disney Company, Mac advocates and educates on behalf of LGBTQIA+ and ally employees. This experience has helped them in their role as a producer, developing leadership skills through event planning and organization.
