Ethernet Alliance Showcases 1.6T Ethernet Advancements at ECOC 2026
The Ethernet Alliance is showcasing its latest advancements in high-speed Ethernet technologies at ECOC 2026, an event taking place September 21-23 in Malaga, Spain. The demo comes at a pivotal moment for high-speed Ethernet, as bandwidth and performance requirements continue to climb.
David J. Rodgers, president and chair of the Ethernet Alliance, noted that 'AI has a seemingly insatiable appetite for bandwidth,' highlighting the need for faster Ethernet solutions. The organization's live multi-vendor interoperability demonstration will feature switches, test platforms, modules, cables, and interconnects from various contributors, including Amphenol Corporation, Cisco Systems Inc., HPE, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Hyper Photonix Ltd., Keysight Technologies Inc., MultiLane Test Products, Synopsys Inc., TE Connectivity plc, Teledyne LeCroy Inc., VeEX Inc., and Wilder Technologies, LLC.
The demo will showcase the capabilities of 1.6T Ethernet technology, including 1.6T OSFP connectivity and operation using 224G SerDes technology and link training. An 800G AI lossless link demonstration will also explore link negotiation and lossless Ethernet mechanisms.
