Ethiopian Airlines Set to Buy Up to 10 Boeing Cargo Planes
Ethiopian Airlines is on the verge of buying up to 10 Boeing cargo planes as part of plans to create a new African hub to compete with Gulf carriers.
The deal will likely include two current-generation Boeing 777F aircraft, which will help the US planemaker bridge a gap until its delayed new 777-8F freighter model is available.
Boeing has been under pressure to keep producing the widely used 777F due to delays in developing the successor to the 777 jet family, the 777X. The company has asked for a waiver to deliver another 35 777F freighters, citing strong demand and certification delays.
